FULL TIME PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

Job Summary

Mostyn House Medical Practice has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and forward‑thinking Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and supportive team. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in improving patient care.

Essential: Must be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPhC

Experience in Primary Care is desirable but not essential for the right candidate.

About the Role

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a key role in supporting safe, effective, and efficient medicines management across the practice. Working closely with our GPs, ANP, nurses, and administrative team, you will help streamline prescribing processes, improve patient safety, and contribute to high‑quality clinical care.

Main duties of the Job

Conducting medication reviews within scope of practice

Synchronising repeat medications to improve patient experience

Carrying out patient safety audits and supporting quality improvement initiatives

Undertaking medication reconciliation following hospital discharge or outpatient appointments

Supporting antimicrobial stewardship and promoting appropriate prescribing

Providing patient education and ensuring safe use of medicines

Contributing to cost‑effective prescribing and practice‑wide medicines optimisation

Supporting long‑term condition management pathways

Liaising with community pharmacies and secondary care to resolve medication queries

Diazepam for Fear of Flying

Mostyn House Medical Practice has reviewed its benzodiazepine prescribing and based on current national guidelines will no longer prescribe benzodiazepines or sedatives (such as diazepam) to patients for fear of flying.

Prescriptions over the phone

We no longer take prescription requests over the phone unless you are housebound or palliative.  Please download the NHS Wales App or use Accurx to submit an admin request (see submit a new request at top of page) or use the prescription drop off box in the surgery. Please also NAME each item you require.  Do not put ‘all medications’, ‘all repeats’ etc

ELECTRONIC PRESCRIBING

We are now live with Electronic Prescribing.  Please let us know where you would like your prescriptions to be sent to.
